I haven't heard of a cleaning rod that is not steel attach to an AK, why not just buy a Tipon carbon fiber cleaning rod and cut it to size to fit the AK, it's flexible, and durable enough and its black so I think it would fit right in.App Mailed = 7/12/21

Here's an idea: leave the steel cleaning rod under the barrel for those "just in case" situations which will probably never happen, and use an aluminum or brass cleaning rod when cleaning it at home or at the range (which will pretty much be 100% of the time).
The steel rod would be situationally better for clearing a stuck case anyway.Comment

Id want it to be threaded so it can fit the attachments I have stored in the stock. Good suggestion though if I can find one designed to sit in the holder.Comment

i have a pws brake on there so the cap doesnt fit. yea i know i can hold the cap in place but thats a bit cumbersome and id prefer just to have a rod on hand that i dont have to worry about.Comment

Ah, gotcha. Yeah, that ain't gonna work.
Brass would be better, btw. Aluminum rods are, by nature, coated with aluminum oxide. As you probably know aluminum oxide is commonly used in sandpaper.
You could probably find a brass cleaning rod that comes in sections. Cut the "ball" end of your steel rod and thread it to fit into a brass section of rod. Then cut the brass rod to length and re thread that end. That's what I'd do in your situation. But I'd never run anything other than a slant break anyways. That's just me.Comment

use a boresnakeComment

or Tipton has the carbon fiber ones..just don't order one that's way too long for ur barrelComment

+1 on a boresnake. Get a hollow grip and stuff it in the bottom. I have a bore snake with all rifles that have the storage option to hold one."Tactical" is a mindset, not an equipment list.
