Any good gunshops in the Oakland/East Bay area?

Hey there folks, I'm in the market for a new rifle and I was wondering what my options were in my area.
Yes, I am aware of the phone book, but I know that there are quite a few folks on this forum from my area and just wanted to get some good suggestions.

    Thanks!

I've been thinking of heading down there but it seems like kind of a long journey to make twice (if I do end up getting something) I might just have to check them out though.

Old West Gun Room in El Cerrito. I've found Bob to helpful but others have not. He's an old scholl no BS kind of guy.

Looking into either a Garand, or M1A, maybe even a bolt action rifle like a Remington 700.
But really, I'm at the shopping around stage, nothing is set in stone.

              Edit:
I should say that I'm looking for something with oompf that can shoot either .30-06 or .308 for range use.
If you guys have any suggestions on rifles I'm definitely open to hearing those too.

might be worth the drive to see soldier 415 at bullseye.

My favorites are J&R's Sport Supply in Livermore and Irvington Arms. Neither is particularly close to you, but have good people in both shops.

Dublin Guns & Knives isn't friendly and doesn't have the selection, and Contra Costa Collectibles will have a Garand, but probably overpriced.

Andreotti's in Castro Valley - small but quite friendly and helpful.

Canyon Sports in Martinez has a large selection - staff is hit or miss - some good guys, a few tools.
Leave the cannoli, take the gun.

                        Hey Badd Blood,

We are just across the bridge in san rafael, first exit off the bridge. If you are looking for a rifle I would be more than happy to take the time to show you what we have in stock, as well as go through the catalogues and web sites, as well as reviews to find you the rifle you are looking for.

Shoot me a PM or email.

I recommend Target Masters in Milpitas.
I fired my first gun there and I love their selection.

Castro Valley Gun Store (also known as Bullseye East ) is a very good store. Take 580 east to Redwood Rd, hang a right & they're across the street from Trader Joe's. That's probably closest to you.
