Does anyone know what the minimum practical twist rate for a barrel is? This basically gives the upper bound on aspect ratio of a spin stabilized bullet (length to diameter ratio).
A 22 cal bullet that is 2.2" long weighing about 220 grains will be very interesting ballistically -- both in terms of an extremely high ballistic co-efficient and in terms of penetration afforded by extremely high sectional density. But if fired at 950 fps, it'll need a rifling twist rate of about 1 twist in 2.4 inches. Is that even possible?
