Black Hills’ MK 262 Mod 1

Anyone have experience with this ammo? Is it as good as they say?

How does the Federal 77gr Sierra MatchKing BTHP compare?

don't they both use the Sierra 77gr HPBTM with a cannelure? if so, I guess you should be asking how much of a difference can there be.

Try posting this in the ammo/reloading forum
More people will probably know about that round

I have yet to startmy own handloads based off that round

The Black Hills 5.56 version will likely have better velocity than the Federal version. Black hills is loaded to 5.56 NATO pressures, while the Federal is loaded to SAMMI .223 pressures which are more conservative.

As far as the performance of the ammo is concerned: Yes. It is all that and a bag of chips. IMHO, the 77 grain MK 262 and clones are the best round you can get for the AR-15 that will fit into a magazine length loading.

Tried a box along with FMMG. Similar results, and what was said before, 5.56 more velocity. 77 Gr Sierra BTHP is probably my favorite, but expensive as ****.

Handload your own for about 30-40% less, wil;l take you out to 800 yads.

Leave the mythical collectable overpriced ammo for the local bling operators.

Black Hills produces the mk262 for the mil. They also use sierra 77gr matchkings with a light cannulature. It's great ammo and some people's rifles love the stuff. My rifle didn't seem to like it very much. I reload my own clone ammo that is much more accurate out of my rifle, but doesn't get as high a velocity as BH's loads.

well what else is there to say about it, it is Black Hills ammo - I have never shot any Black Hills that wasn't top notch. it is arguably the next best thing to reloading.

and I believe that the only difference in the mod 1 vs the mod 0 is that they used a cannelure in the mod 1.
also the MK262 is, IIRC, a higher velocity than the standard red box stuff.
