    AK Jammng Issue

Please do help, I need suggestions. What is the most likely problem causing this jamming situation? About 8 out of ten cartridges jam upon load from the magazine. This jamming only happens for the initial cartridge loaded from the mag. Once shooting it will run thru the mag without jam. This is what the jam looks like-

I havnt got mine yet, but from the videos I watched with stripping it. Is the bolt screwed down right??? What it kinda looks like is the charging handle isnt getting pulled all the way back. Thats what it kinda sounds like and looks like with it only happening when you charge it. Correct? I havnt seen anything like this yet...

try a different mag. from the pic and the lack of info on what type of ak and mag you are using, i would have to say you need a better mag.

The bolt isn't stripping the first round correctly. The problem is the distance between the bottom of the bolt and the top of the first round. This can be due to several issues:

            1) If it's a home bent flat, it could be bowed at the bottom - causing the distance between the mag and the rails to be too far.

            2) It could be crappy mags - use 30's if you got em - 10/30's if you don't. IMHO, 10 round AK mags leave a lot to be desired.

            3) The rails could be sitting too high - there's a way to bend them down - but don't do it unless you really understand what you are doing and why.

First step - try a bunch of different mags.

EDIT - there's also a way to hammer the bottom of the mag catch to push to mag higher in the gun - but again don't do it unless you really understand what you are doing and why.

Same exact thing happened to me, I attributed it to a combination of 2 things. The first problem is the 10 round mag I was using is garbage and it constantly jammed. The second problem is my mag catch is just slightly too short and the mag rides too low. Worked fine when I pulled the mags back tight so I'm going to take my mag latch off and build it up with a little welding and file it down so the mags fit nice and snug.

Are you shooting HPs or FMJs. One of my rifles will tend to jam 1rd per mag if I'm using HPs.

Mag is to low. Switch out mags until one works is the easy fix. Build up mag catch, bend rails or tweak receiver is the hard fix.

That could be a feed ramp problem. I have heard of that. Like the feed ramp is not there or not at a good angle.

Feed block jams look like HP jams. Neither looks like the one in the OP.

                        +1 to mag-related problem.

The only other thought I have is to make sure you're not riding the charging handle forward. Pull it back till it hits the rear support and let go.
