Mmk, good to know I'm not just crazy then, I've put hundreds of rounds through my two Mini's and don't have any marks like that, just started on the AK a couple months ago and didn't get it with the Fiocchi/Federal/American Eagle ammo, I guess it might just finally be breaking in or something.

EDIT: no sand because the desert is a much longer drive than I've had time for of late, no steel because there's basically nowhere in San Diego to shoot steel case or core rounds

The arsenal ammo is hot compared to some and will run the action that much faster. My rifles behave according to pressure as yours should also.
Sweet, thanks for the info on that!

Did your safety scratch up the receiver?

That is how it is supposed to look.. AK's chew up brass cases, since they are meant to run steel cased ammo. My AK-101 munches the rims of brass cased ammo.

Yes, but every AK I've ever seen has had that so I didn't worry about it, and haven't had much of a chance until now to see AK internals that shot lots of brass instead of steel

I'm gathering that now, just haven't seen that before with my other 7.62x39 rifle, or with the first sets of ammo I put through it. I really with I could run steel cased ammo here

Because there's almost nowhere in the San Diego area where you can shoot steel case/steel core ammo unfortunately.

That's what I ended up doing, just took it home, lightly CLP'd everything but the gas tube after using some compressed air to get all the brass shavings out and then put it back in the safe. Was just curious about it because, as I noted earlier, haven't seen that in any of my other rifles before and didn't happen with the first few sets of rounds I put through it. Wasn't something I'd really heard of or read about before getting the rifle either.

Now I know, and knowledge is power/half the battle/etc!

Just check your spent casings...if they look normal, as in they aren't bulging or some other signs of trouble, it's fine. Most likely though, normal. Nothing to worry about. AKs will run almost anything but spiked ammo.lol and it'll run that at least once.

I have a SAM 7 but I only shoot steel as well. Mostly Golden Tiger. I have no plans to reload since steel is cheaper than reloading. Never an issue with steel.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...
