They used to ship to CA, don't know whether they still do:
Keepshooting.com now manufactures and distributes MIL-SPEC M1 carbine magazines. These magazines, which share a design with the original military M1 carbine magazine, are designed to hold and feed 15 rounds of .30 Carbine ammunition to your M1 carbine. Guaranteed to fit and function in any MIL-SPEC M1 carbine, these brand new magazines are a must-have accessory for any M1 carbine enthusiast.

        Prices seemed to have doubled.

Other then genuine WWII mags, I've had great luck with the Korean KCI 15 round mags. Work flawless.

Besides original USGI magazines, the Korean (KCI brand) magazines are the best M-1 Carbine magazines currently available.

The Koreans (KCI) had been making them since the 1970s for the ROK military to replace worn out USGI magazines.

Can anyone comment on the legality of the OP possibly having a friend from out of state buy mags and disassemble them into parts, and then ship to California? It seems this would be legal, at least until bill 48 takes effect (which may outlaw this), then the OP could repair existing legally owned 15 round mags or block and weld the 15's to only hold 10 rounds for use here.

That is, if the OP knows someone who lives out of state.
