DPMS 308 AR Rifle Legal in CA ?

We are getting tons of request for the DPMS 308 Rifles to be shipped to CA are they legal with the mag lock installed ? The models are the LR 308 series and the guns are marked DPMS Panther Arms . Any input we would be helpfull.

What is in a name? In CA - everything. Any off-list 308 would be fine but our politicians think that a little engraving makes it way too dangerous.

I am no lawyer but looking at the Calguns flowchart it appears that all DMPS Panther rifles are illegal under Step #4. Hopefully someone with more knowledge chimes in.

That is what we thought but a customer just said he spoke with his dealer and the dealer looked it up and told him it was OK to buy it from us with a mag lock installed ?

DPMS does make a CA legal lower. It only has the DPMS logo, no panther or panther arms on it.

              LEGAL:

              NOT LEGAL:

yes they DO have cali legal DPMS models. the lowers do not have the panther head mark. They are installed with BBs from the factory.

My DPMS LR-308 lower has just DPMS and not "Panther".

i just went through this. i tried getting an LR308 and 3 different FFLs would not do the transfer even though it was coming from a different Cali FFL and it had a BB installed. The seller simply swapped out the DPMS lower with one that wasnt on the DOJ banned list. Be very careful talking to DPMS as well, two sales guys from there said the exact opposite regarding this issue.

Forgive my ignorance but, what is different and what makes one of them illegal? You have got to be kidding me if it is just because of the engraving...

because DPMS "panther" is on the ban list. But DPMS is not.

That panther on the logo makes the rifle very vicious. An "Assault" like weapon.. lol

Do they sell the OLLower itself?
