You guys have Guns left? I figured since they didn't want me to have any I would get rid of mine. I cut mine in half and then melted the metal down and made vases. Sold the vases already.

SB 396 (Hancock): Prohibiting Possession of Large Capacity Ammunition Magazines

Current California law prohibits the sale of large capacity ammunition magazines (magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition) but possession of these magazines is not illegal. SB 396 would prohibit the possession of a large capacity magazine in California, regardless of when the magazine was acquired. The bill would provide that any person who legally possessed a large capacity magazine may lawfully dispose of the magazine by selling it to a firearms dealer, removing it from the state, destroying it, or surrendering it to law enforcement by July 1, 2014.

Status: Two-year bill: ineligible to proceed this year (died in Assembly).

AB 48 (Skinner): Regulating Ammunition Sales and Large Capacity Ammunition Magazines

AB 48 would require the Department of Justice (DOJ) to notify local law enforcement if an individual purchases more than 6,000 rounds within a seven-day period. (This provision is only operative if SB 53, described above, is also enacted.)
Additionally, the bill would prohibit the manufacture, sale or purchase of any device that can convert an ammunition feeding device into a large-capacity ammunition magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds, and clarify that assembling a large capacity ammunition magazine from parts constitutes “manufacturing” such an ammunition magazine.

Status Passed the legislature, awaiting action by the governor.

Per section 3, section 1.5 of AB48 only goes into effect if 396 also passes, which it did not, therefore our mags are safe for the time being.

However, on this THREAD it states AB48 will ban rebuild / conversion kits if it (AB48) passes. That is because section 2 is not contingent on section 3 or, rather, SB 396 passing.

Our rebuild mags / conversion kits would become illegal as defined:

"imports into the state, keeps for sale, or offers or exposes for sale, or who gives, lends, buys, or receives any large capacity magazine conversion kit is punishable by a fine of not more than one thousand dollars ($1,000) or imprisonment in a county jail not to exceed six months, or by both that fine and imprisonment. This section does not apply to a fully assembled large-capacity magazine, which is governed by Section 32310."

Govt has abused their power enough. I used to have a respect for the law but now I don't really give a damn what words they write on paper. They can write w/e laws they want, I will live my life as a free man. I'm not going to be putting myself out there to be arrested for dumb nonsense but I choose to live my life free of govt nonsense.

FWIW the Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf 10 round mag for their AR conversion holds 30 rounds of 5.56 (so I've heard) and as a 10 round will still be available after the ban. Not suggesting anyone use it for anything other than it's intened purpose, just thought it was interesting.
