    m16a1

    does the m16a1 have a brass deflector ....theres a colt upper small pin that im intrested in trading its got the a1 sight but theres a big ole honkin brass deflector is this a true a1?

    No.

    If it has an A1 sight and a shell deflector it's probably a C7 upper.

        I don't think so.

        The only uppers I have seen with A1 sights and shell deflectors were made by Diemaco for the Canadian C7 rifles.

            Even the later M16A1's did not have a brass deflector. It is probably a Colt Canada upper.

                  Barrel could have been replaced, or maybe someone built it that way out of a used upper.

                    It's the M16A2 with "field sights". On the civie side it was called the colt R6500, and early R6520 if carbine
                    On the military side 711 & early 727(?) and the C7 & C8 for the Cannucks.
                    Seriously missing the 80's.....
