Nice racks are much better. You can grab both sides of the rack to help stabilize while mounting.

AFAIK, milled receivers have serial numbers--you're talking about an AK, right?

FYI, AKs don't have an upper and a lower like ARs.

If it is not finished; legally anyone can help with it. Find someone who can stamp or etch one in. You can make up the serial number. Search for a thread on the topic because you need some other info to go along with it put on it. Also; the depth has to be to a certain level and a thread on the subject should mention it.

          Then you could register it.

If its done / not 80% check on the rules for that situation. I'm not sure what they are.

Also; if you get a metal stamping kit to do it yourself... try it on other stuff (wood or something) before your receiver... don't want to mess it up while you are learning how to use it.

Well actually the answer is simple you mark it yourself.
following the atf guide for size and depth you must include your name, city and state of manufacture and model and serial (up to you to name and number it)

We all know the search function on here sucks to the point of being almost unuseable. Quit being obnoxious and either post a link, or ignore the thread.

The ATF guides are federal requirements for firearms manufacturers. There are no federal marking specifications for home-made firearms (which are not being transferred). It is still unclear how CA DoJ will deal with firearms which do not require a serial number if SB374 is signed into law.
