Good .223/5.56 deer hunting round

Is using a .223 considered less ethical than bow hunting? Most of the deer in CA are pretty light and I don't a .223 with the right bullet would have a problem taking one down as long as the distance is less than 200 yards.

Really handicapping yourself with a 1:9 twist barrel

not as much as the handicap of using a .223 for deer ...

And 1:9 is fine for up to 70grain or so.

1:15 up to 55 grains, 4100 – 4300 fps
1:14 up to 55 grains, less than 4100 fps
1:12 55 – 63 grains
1:9 63 – 70 grains
