Upper or 80% lower out of spec? Fitting issue :(

So, I just bought a blem stripped upper from Palmetto State Armory. I have gotten nothing but great stuff from them. That being said, this stripped upper took 14 days to deliver (which seems a bit long) and I just attempted to slap it on to my 80% lower and it doesn't fit. The front pivot pin fits perfectly but the rear (I think it's called lug?) doesn't fit into the lower. Either the lower is out of spec and a touch too thick, or the upper rear lug is out of spec and a touch too thick. I can cram it in there and get it about half, then it just won't budge . The lower is a TM 80% milled in San Diego at a well known shop. So, my question is, would it be alright if I took some sanding material or a sanding wheel on the dremmel or something and just hit the rear lug a bit to get it to fit?

Cram it in, sand it, file it... This has actually become pretty common with the 80% boom going on. Once you get it to fit it will function just fine.

I would sand/file down the 80% not the lug. I bet that lug just fits fine in a manufactured lower. If you take it off the lug it will end up sloppy in another lower.

I had probs with a fit too. Mine may not have been as severe. I oiled everything really well, then crammed and pulled a few dozen times. It's still tight but managable.

put a little lube on it and see if that helps..

could be the anodizing? Better to be too tight then too loose

Its a blem upper? I have heard of the lugs actually being out of spec. I would try the upper on a known lower and go from there. It might need a bit of filing on the rear of the lug
