    Which AK?

    Hey fellas.

I realize this may be a can of worms, but I'm in the market for a new AK and I'd like to know which one(s) everyone who has an opinion favors and why.

All I think I know so far is milled > stamped and Russian > everything else.

Help me out here, guys(and possibly gals, who knows)...

      All of them:

      AK47s & 74s.

Romanians, Polish, E. Germans, Russians, Chinese, N. Vietnamese, Egyptians, Yugoslavians, Bulgarians, Venezuelan, etc.

      Milled and stamped receivers.

Fixed stocks, underfolders, sidefolders, pistols, etc.

      Sky is the limit.....

          I'll play

I prefer the Saiga for the fact that its made in Russia by Izhmash, the OG of ak manufactures. They wrote the freaking book on AK's and still put out a great rifle. A milled receiver is not always better. For one they are much heavier and don't take the same universal parts.

I'd go with a saiga conversion, arsenal or a sam7.

Siaga conversions done right cost more money than just building on a parts kit or buying a lower end commercial gun.

AK-101 and AKM both were started as Saigas.

To do it right, you need a FSB, Rear sight, Gas tube and maybe a gas block (depending on what come on your base gun) , stock set , correct trigger guard, trigger group, hand guard retainer . Plus a bit of riveting , welding and refinishing.
