Had to convince RSO featureless is legal

Shooting a featureless AR ( grip wrap, thread protector, fixed stock, 10 round mags) at Lytle Creek today. The RSO acted like he had never seen such a thing. Took some convincing it was even legal. This is a guy who sees guns often what would happen if it was a LEO?

Lytle creek is notorious for that sort of thing. If you went there years ago when it was a free for all, you might understand why.

Wait.......so if shooting at Lytle creek (which I don't thankfully) you have to convince them your gear is legal? WTF?

What was he saying was illegal about it?

Was it because it doesn't have a bullet button?
Was it just the overall configuration?

lytle creek is a double edged sword.

While its a decent range. its almost like many RSO's are out to get you.

i had a guy with a FAL on the next bench to me have a failure on his gun, started field stripping it, somehow took out the mag lock(im not familiar with that platform) and just happen to drop the mag in front of RSO

about 10 mins later forest ranger comes up, goes straight to the guy and ends up arresting him for an "assault weapon"

Unbelievable! The ignorance and FUD some CA gun owners have is just inexcusable.

Remind me not to go to that range...

I'm lucky I got outta there alive a few times as I'm light skinned and void of prison tats!~ LOL!

Who would support such an anti-gun, gun range... after a guy was arrested because of range staff the whole range should have cleared out. I will never go there now. Thats just mind boggling. That RSO should have been tar and feathered and ran out of town. Shame on anyone who just kept shooting like its cool.

Both times I have shot there I have been asked upon paying the range fee at the entry station if I had brought any AR or AK type rifles. While I don't even own any, they explained it was to check for compliance and whatnot. It's an ok place to shoot at, but definitely near the bottom of my list to visit.

Ahhh...the classic Lytle Creek...mag-dumping an SKS from the hip with one hand, an Old English 40 in the other.

Never been to the "new" Lytle Creek and have no desire to go.

I used to go to old Lytle that was like the Wild West! This was the first time at the "new" Lytle. I'm usually a BLM shooter but needed to just spend a couple hours sighting in a rifle.
It is what it is, a range with too many rules that is close. I just know LEO have even less of a clue to the laws than the RSO. I have friends in LEO. Take guns let the DA sort it out. Oh and if you think getting guns back is easy, it's not. Money spent better getting new ones.

Ah, but OLD Lytle.... back in the 80's that place was rocking! Would NEVER go there now, the place is just a police department sting operation in progress
