Analyze my post SB374 purchase and rationalizations - tell me if I'm dumb.

So I'm treating SB374 like I better buy every rifle I will want, or might want, for the rest of my life before the end of the year. This FEELS panicky, but since we KNOW the purchase of the rifles will be banned, it might not BE panicky. I'm not sure, which is why I'm asking here.

Here is a list of what I've purchased and why. You tell me if I went too far, or not far enough. Good news is that if I went TOO far, I think I can sell some of this stuff pretty easily without taking TOO big of a loss provided I sell in December. (note, not a flipper or gouger - just trying to take solace in maybe getting SOME of the money back if it turns out that I did indeed panic.)

    Here they are, in order:
    • Ruger Mini-14 Ranch Rifle Walnut Stock. - I've always liked mini-14s, but it's been a long time since I've owned one, so I figured I better get one again before time is up. Still have a few, but not a TON of legal 20rd mags for the gun, as well as quite a few 5 rounders, so I don't need to buy a bunch of other things to go with it. Purchased from Rifle Gear - $739+tax
    • Springfield Armory Scout Squad M1A. My grandpa had an old M1A and I always wanted to get one to kind of remind me of him. Got lucky here, as I do legally own quite a few of the old 20round mags that appear to be in good condition. Purchased from RifleGear - $1899 +tax (plus I know I'll probably end up spending more money on this gun. I'd like to buy some 10 round mags, good sling, maybe a scope, several thousand rounds of ammunition to get to know the gun, etc.
    • Complete LMT lower with M4 stock. I don't even really like ARs, but REALLY don't like being told I can't have one. I've since sold every AR I owned as I just hated the whole BB thing. This seemed the easiest cheapest way to put something aside that I can just slap an upper on later if I want to. Plus, I own a BUNCH of old beat up USGI 20 and 30 round mags that I know work because I've used them in my keltec. (couldn't use them in the BB AR I previously owned). Purchased from Rifle Gear - $349 + tax
    • 2 Aero Precision Stripped lowers in MULTI CAL. - Same thought process as above, but these were cheap and can just sit around incase I want another AR someday. Purchased from RifleGear - $190+tax (for both)
    • Ruger Gunsite Scout - I know I could have put this one off as SB374 doesn't effect it, but one was sitting on the shelves at OC Armory and it seemed like a neat gun. Plus I've been in money-spending mode anyway, so what the hell right? Purchased from OC Armory - $850 +tax. Will probably get a good pistol scope to go on the front of it - but might not.
    • CMMG Complete Lower in .308 - Since I was buying a few other 308 guns, this made sense to me. If I ever wanted to build a 308 AR, it would make sense to buy the most necessary parts to do so now. I've never owned or even fired an AR in 308 but wanted a lower in case I decided I might want to in the future. Went with complete instead of stripped because that was what was available. Bad news is I don't own ANY high cap mags for this one, andI'm not even sure what I'd want the rifle for in the first place. This was more a of 'just in case i ever want a 308 AR' purchase and investing the least amount of money possible before the deadline. Purchased from RifleGear - $499+tax
    • Ruger American Rimfire 22lr. - Again, NOTHING to do with SB374 - but what a neat freaking gun. I happened across it on riflegear's site, thought it was cool, and since I have a bunch of 10/22 mags (a bolt action gun that takes 10/22 mags - how cool is that?) I couldn't pass it up. I LOVE 22 bolt guns. Purchased from RifleGear - $275 +tax
    • 2000 rds of 147gr 308 from the lake city ammunition manufacturing facility. Gotta feed the M1A and I'm the type that believes the first 'upgrade' or 'accessory' you should add to a new gun is to shoot it a few thousand times to get to know it. Ammo is 2013 manufacture, all the brass had '13' next to 'LC' on the headstamp. Lake city brass is good stuff. Purchased from ammoman.com $1398 total - no tax - no shipping.

So there are all my post SB374 'panic' buys. I was able to DROS a bunch of the guns together to save on fees and wait times.

How do you think I did? Some rifles I really wanted, and was forced to buy now, and others I'm not even sure I want, but was still expected to read the future, because if I ever DO want them some years down the road, I won't have the chance.

Looking for honest opinions of the choices and reasoning I made above. Did I go too far? Not far enough? Something you would have passed on? Something you think I forgot?

Be brutal - it won't hurt my feelings.

I wish I had that much money to spend....

Imo, that is what I would have done (if money was not a problem). The only difference is that I would have bought less ammo because of the ammo prices going down (slightly). But who knows, ammo prices my sky rocket next week.

I myself have 2 aero precision lowers in jail. Still have the droes open, so I'm debating on what else to get at rifle gear lol

Hopefully my input can give you some kind of incentive.

I would consider several 80% or complete lowers for future builds such as...ak, HK 91 and mp5, fal, Uzi, suomi, etc. Low cost now but u can build them over the years.

Not dumb if you wanted the stuff anyway, have the cash flow, and prices are back down.

Now is the time to buy a reciever for any and every gun you have ever or will possibly want to own that falls under the sb374 law.

Makes sense to me. I've been doing generally the same thing for most of the year. A bit nit picky, but my choice would have been to hold off on the gun site scout & the Ruger 22, that would have freed up $1000 to get something more "assaulty". Same with the ammo, i would have bought just enough & allocated the difference towards another gun. But everyone's definition of "just enough ammo" is different so thats a judgement call. But I notice you didn't get many accessories, good thinking. Those can always be bought later.

                            OK, you're dumb.

                            Feel better now?

You generally run out of time before you run out of ammo.

                              1. I would look at buying a couple 80% lowers. They can be set up for a variety of calibers.

                              2. I would also look into some sort of ak rifle or at least the lower alone.

                              3. Im considering a AR/AK style pistol. Those will also be banned.

                              4. Maybe a semi auto shotgun since those will also be effected.
