Bushmaster ACR Enhanced - So Close

I think I am going to buy one this weekend or in 2 weeks. I was going back and forth between a SIG716 and the Bushmaster ACR Enhanced. Yes this is only impulse buy because of the law thats passing. This will be my last rifle of the year. These go for $2000 and also has a multi-caliber bolt carrier assembly that changes from 223/5.56mm NATO to 6.8mm Rem SPC.

I could get my hands on the black version but the FDE/TAN is hard to find. However I dont mind the black version.

    Any thoughts?

I just locked one up. I had the chance to the scar but decided with the ACR. I think the non-reciprocating CH pushed my decision.

If you've got the funds then go for it.

I'm pretty sure that is a SCAR.

monsterhook, i agree I thought it was a better buy than a SCAR. In some aspects it seems like its better than a SCAR16 because of the ability to shoot 6.8mm and better than the SCAR17s because of the price lol So its in between a SCAR16s and SCAR17s.

I think i am going to go for it

It is capable of other calibers as well. Check out ACRForums, they have all kinds of cool stuff going on with the ACR. It also helped in my decision.

I see the delusions of the ACR being superior to a Scar start before they are even owned.

Whats the general opinion on these ACRs? I havent heard a ton about them? How do they compare to a scar 16?

IMO, SCAR > ACR. I really dislike the fact that they decided to go with a 1/9 twist for the ACR(seriously?), plastic forearm(personal perference), non chrome lined barrel, heavy for something with so much plastic(8.2lbs vs 7.3lbs on SCAR) and the price. If I was spending that much I much rather have a proven platform(internet rumor says the group that adopted the ACR gave it up due to performance issues; and that was the "better" military version also)

The ACR isnt horribly reliable, very nose heavy, heavy in general, its been disowned by several of the original folks at magpul that dreamed up the thing.

Save for it looks cool, Im not really sure what it has going for it.

If you really want to compare it to the scar, do a little research on who makes them, who uses them etc etc and the picture paints itself very fast
