Assembling first 308 AR (BCG and barrel recommendations)

Just bought a few JD Machine matched stripped .308 uppers and lowers. Was looking for advice on building out the uppers. Want to go gas piston and looking for long range (18-20" barrel". What barrels and BCG would you folks recommend for building them out?

No one sells an "add on" piston kit for 308's. If you want a piston set-up, your only option at this point is to buy a complete POF upper. That's the only piston upper available for that 308 platform, but I'm not sure how well visually it's going to match up with your JD lower.

As for barrels, some guys swear by Black Hole Weaponry barrels (never tried one myself). Rainier Arms, Fulton Armory and JP all make good barrels. It all depends on your price range.

You can get this JP barrel set-up at MidwayUsa. It comes with the comp, low profile gas block, gas tube and bolt. Then you could either get a DPMS bolt carrier or one of the JP low mass carriers.
Sometimes I wonder why I even bother. Some people are just incapable of understanding the simplest of things.
