    Difference in FAL's

So, I've been considering an FN FAL.

I found two on Atlantic Firearms website:

Explore a wide selection of firearms, ammunition, and tactical gear. Find high-quality, affordable weapons and accessories with fast shipping and expert support

    and

Explore a wide selection of firearms, ammunition, and tactical gear. Find high-quality, affordable weapons and accessories with fast shipping and expert support

    Are these decent FAL's?
Are they being sold for a decent price?
Should I be considering a different maker?
Should I be considering a different retailer?
Should I be considering a different model?
Is the DSA really $700 better than the Imbel?

Thanks in advance for your help.

First, That so-called Imbel FAL is not on an Imbel receiver. It is on an Entreprise receiver.

      To answer your questions:
      - DSA FAL's are GTG. Entreprise FAL can be hit or miss.
      - Well, the Entreprise's price is not bad, the DSA may be pricy. Try to look around more in the Marketplace of CGN and falfiles.com
      - Like I said, DSA is GTG. You can try finding a FAL built on an Imbel receiver (the real one). FN FALs, as mentioned, are banned in the state by name since 1989.
      - Atlantic is not bad, but keep looking around.
      - FAL is a good rifle, it may not as accurate as AR, M14/M1A or a bolt action, but it gets the job done.
      - DSA is definitely better than Entreprise, but very debatable in comparison with Imbel. Imbel is as close to a real FAL as it is licensed by FN while DSA are built to the blueprint specs bought from Steyr. The advantage of DSA is that it's made in the USA so the receiver itself counts as one of the 922(r) parts.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.

Enterprise FALs nowadays are all great rifles, and they do have good customer service.

DSA is a great rifle, with so-so customer service.

Imbel Gear Logo receivers are GTG..the rest of the assembly is up to the builder. Never really heard of a poorly put together Imbel, but they could exist.

FAL's aren't innaccurate. They are a battle rifle and do the job VERY good with irons and good eyes out to 300 or so. After that optics come into play and you do have a caliber that is very heavy hitting out pretty far.

Ergonomics IMO are one of the best. Durability and simplicity of design also tops.

Depending on price? I'd not hesitate on Enterprise...DSA tend to command more but you can score deals if on the lookout.

          Thanks for the info guys.

I just wanted to add that this gun would just be a range toy and I'm certainly not an expert marksman.

I'm just looking for something that is reliable and fun

That being said, I don't want a POS. I'm more of a value or best bang for your buck kind of guy.

So, is the Enterprise FAL good to go?

          Should I look elsewhere?
          What's a reasonable price for a mid-level FAL?
Where should I look for deal?
I would prefer new and from a reputable dealer.

Seems like the more answers I get the more questions I find.

Thanks for bearing with me guys.

Which fal is preferred, metric or inch pattern? Does it matter? Or is it all the same in the end?

last time I checked, the DSA FALs are NOT in stock at Atlantic. Hit "add to cart" to see it. They did have "para"s available (folding stock I believe) but I think that was a model they might not ship to CA.

Atlantic Arms or wait out the privates sales. The Enterprise/Imbel fits the bang/buck category. $950 for it is not a bad price for a brand new rifle. Otherwise pony up for the DSA.

                        I found a DSA for 1390, shipped.

Is that a good price or still on the high side?

I'd really suggest some time on the FAL Files...Entreprise has a history of variable assembly quality, as well as (understatement) less than stellar customer service.

Imbel gear-logo's are gtg, as are the Imbels without the gear-logo, as are Imbel receivers marked with the Century Arms and/or CAI's logo.

I would hesitate on Entreprise, or at least shoot a few mags through the weapon to make sure it runs. There is a reason that Entreprise weapons sell for less.

Jay, you really need to spend some time on the FAL Files.

I'd have no hesitation buying used, as long as seller can verify the gun was assembled by a reputable builder...Best I've seen are guns from Arizona Response Systems...a one-man shop but absolutely beautiful guns, correctly assembled, and not close to cheap.

Pricing currently...look for $1-2K for a running gun.

It is, indeed. They'll work about as well as a Glock magazine in a 1911.

Maybe a little high, depends on the gun's configuration. Check Marketplace on the FAL Files.
