They get pretty close. Everyone has to be in place and know where fellow team mates are...even with their eyes closed.

Their only concern was who had to make the next beer and ammo run.Originally posted by CJ5&G23Looks like they had no concern about their backdrop and where the bullets were going. You can clearly see what looks like buildings (houses?) in the background.Comment

+1, stupid people, hitting the water that way, who knows how far it will travel, saw no backstop.Originally posted by CJ5&G23Looks like they had no concern about their backdrop and where the bullets were going. You can clearly see what looks like buildings (houses?) in the background.
A couple of those guys were out of their zone, not cool, stupid actually.Last edited by Capt. Speirs; 12-18-2008, 12:48 AM._____________________________________________

apparently a lot of teams do that, i've seen more than one vid where that's the case. in one the sas videos they show some of the team members playing hostage while the practicing members of the team shoot the baddies around him.Comment

It's a very common practise for 1st guy's point of domination to be alongside the firing lines of teammates. There is nothing unusual with what was done in this video. And since a lot of the Western militaries cross train, yes there are a lot of teams that do this form of room clearing. It's definitely advantagous, when there are obstructions or points of cover in the room for bad guys to hide, for the first guy's point of domination to be further up. And as long as no one wanders its all good.
As for the SAS...well they are a bunch of weirdos and only train with live ammo all the time. Using team members at hostages is common for them, hell even Margaret Thatcher played a hostage once...with live ammo. I would like to see any other politician do that one.
These guys train a lot. Probably shoot more in a day than most of us do in a year. Yes everyone should stick to their points of domination and that why you see them all hugging the walls. Wouldn't go so far as say they'll do it with their eyes closed, simply because rooms get changed around and when dimensions change shooting blind is no bueno.
Nothing uncommon. And remember, not calling cease fire during target changes doesn't break the 4 safety rules. But yeah you better make sure that you know the guys behind you can control their guns.
Where did you see people out of their zone?
I didn't see anyone out of their zone except around 1:20 but when you pay attention the guy is already securing the next entry way. During re-clear there way a slight muzzle swat around 2:04 but guy dropped his weapons as soon as his buddy moved in.Comment
