Dumb Question

Okay, I already know this is a dumb question because it seems really obvious, but I want to confirm that it's right before I buy a new rifle case.

An AR15 should maintain zero after separating the lower and upper so long as the scope has not been detached from the upper - correct?

I am thinking about getting a new case for my AR that would require me to separate the upper and lower and I want to make sure that won't cancel out the scope's zero. I can't think of a reason why it would, but I wanted someone to confirm it before I shell out the money for the new bag.

I never "fork" good sir - I "shell" on occasion but I never fork.

Yup. And you should understand why too. The optic is zeroed with the barrel which is attached to the upper receiver only. You could throw your upper on any AR15 lower and it would still be on target.

My bad, I stand corrected. I usually "fork away" money. particularly where gun stuff is concerned.

You will not have any problem with the breakdown type of case you're looking at.

I only use a scope when I'm looking for the sweet spot of my test loads at 100 yards. I always mount/remove the scope at the exact same spot/rail when I'm done shooting. If there is/was any change in zero, I honestly do not notice this, maybe because all Im doing is look for good groupings?
But if I intend to shoot longer distances, the scope, once re-zeroed stays permanent.
