Cheap dependable scope?

I know, I know, a cheap scope is a cheap scope and you get what you pay for. That said, what's a good, cheap, rifle scope?

I just ordered up a cheapie single shot rifle in .357mag to play around with and it has a scope mount but no iron sights. I want a decent, low magnification scope for initial testing. I'm thinking 2x power level. Thanks for any help offered.

You should rephrase it to "cheap or dependable". You get one or the other but not both.

I have been using Leapers on my rifles from 30-06 to .22 and have never had a problem

I have a nice $50 bushnell from walmart. The reticles are kinda fat, but hold zero and decent optic. Its OK for out to 100 for most stuff. Definately could take deer with it I love mine.
