DROS got delayed

Ok so i went to make my first rifle purchase the other day at turners on 8/25. I just got a call this morning from turners saying that the DOJ had put my DROS on hold. I got hold of somebody at the DOJ who was very unhelpful and told me there was nothing he could do.

I do not have any felonies on my record although i was arrested in 2011 on a felony charge but after going to court it got brought down to a misdemeanor and finally down to an infraction. I had a juvenile record as well ,no felonies but im pretty sure i have had it sealed.

So as of now im not really sure what to do? Just wait i guess, was reading around and saw some people say they were on delay for u to 6 months

You are pretty sure???? I would make sure not guess. There is a reason why you got delayed. Do you owe on a traffic ticket? Behind in child support? Those are two reasons why you could have been delayed!

i do not have any unpaid traffick tickets, i did get a speeding ticket just a couple days ago, but havnt been to court for it yet.

No children so no child support or anything like that.

It could be anything. Suggest you first get a Livescan done so that you can get your DOJ record. That might provide a clue as to what the prob is.

The last pistol I bought from Turners was delayed. Reading the info from the DOJ site concerning DROS delays I decided to just wait it out. Seven days after my original 10 were up I got a call from Turners telling me to come pick it up.

Go get a live scan. I friend of mine just went through this. Live Scan is the only option. After the live scan my friend was told it would take from 3 days - 3 months to get his report. He has yet to receive his report, it has been a few weeks now.

From what i understand this is not uncommon. I think its BS but this is where we are at.

Perhaps they're just making sure that you don't have any outstanding warrants or other convictions since your record came up with priors.

Yeah for real if you had priors they probably want to verify everything before letting you obtain a firearm and since you got charged with something very recently too. I know someone who was arrested but not charged that was delayed about a month after the 10 days but eventually was able to pick it up.

I had a Livescan done recently for the reserves, the response was received in six days.

thanks for all the replies guys. So i was supposed to pick up my firearm today. called turners to see if i was still on delay and sure enough i was. Well this morning i went and looked through my juvenile record, nothing in there that prohibits me, and they were misdemeanor convictions and non violent. SO im pretty much stumped as to what this could be, i got hold of another person at the DOJ and they were a bit more helpful, they asked for my DL # which makes me believe they can look into my file while on the phone with me. but the conversation didnt get much further than "well what usually causes a delay..."

Since when is a "Personal Firearms Eligibility" not an option?
Infact it should be the first thing done, even before buying a firearm if you have anything that might come up.

OP they have been doing this to anyone that they do not have complete details on a case that could have lead to being a felon.

I got delayed too. Called the DOJ and the answering machine stated that if you get rejected, they will send you a letter in the mail with reasons why. If you are delayed, they say you gotta wait it out until they resolve it. Also states that they are not allowed to give any information about your delay or rejection over the phone.

So I guess one of 2 things will happen. 1.) your LGS will call you in several weeks when the DOJ releases the dros to pick up your toy, or 2.) you will get a rejection letter in the mail in about 2 weeks or so with reasons why dros got blocked.
