Im sure I will spend more, BUT I get the experience, and that satisfying feeling that I built it myself...

And most importantly, A pseudo payment plan because I get to decide what parts I buy and when.

But yea, CSA CANNONEER and HELLA YELLA you are, no doubt correct! I believe it hands down

LOL. I've had at least 750 AKMs built at my home over the last several years. I've never seen a properly supervised homebuild come out half as screwed up as most of the IOs I've seen and/or fixed. Hell, I know of an 8 year old who built his own AK and many other minors and/or people with little to no experience using hand tools.

I'm another satisfied customer of Garren/Buellster. He works pretty quick and does extremely solid work. His riveting work is especially top notch, and he actually uses the proper tools/equipment.

You don't have to go to a build party to get good results. I've only been to 1 party and didn't build anything.

I recently bought 2 bulgarian ak74 kits from classic arms for $250 a pop.I was going to go with a flat originally but had a change of heart and went with a reciever from nodak spud. As for barrels i'm going with green mountain instead of the ones from AK builder. Iam going to purchase ak74 flats as a way to hedge my bet if they get banned.

not a bad plan, but the flats alone wont let you do anything unless you complete your builds prior to the end of the year (assuming you are talking about current bills)

? Have been to quite a few BPs, even built a few at the house, you must of had a not so very good mentor!?! If properly taught and using the correct tools it is pretty hard to screw up an AK.

Hey, I also got one of those $250 kits and it's awesome; all numbers match and it was in very good condition. I also decided to go with a NoDak Spud receiver so I wouldn't have to worry about getting it shaped and heat-treated. I'd rather spend a little bit more and save the time and trouble of getting all of that done to it.

Have you checked out the barrels Classic Firearms has? They have U.S. made chrome-lined barrels for $99. They're already cut, drilled, and everything else. All you have to do is paint it if you'd like to.

You need to go look in the mirror and go back to school.

you can press one from a flat (axis pin holes need to be heat treated), rails need to be welded and center support has to be added or you can get a 100% receiver from a company like NDS, AWO, Southern Armament or 74ullc and use it to build up your parts kit at a later date.
