    MP5??

Hi, got a beginner question here. Where is the serial number on a MP5? Is it on the upper receiver?

    Thanks

You should be clear as to what "MP5" you are talking about though.

OK, so do any of you know where I can get an upper receiver? I just noticed Black Market Parts doesn't ship to California. Thanks again.

            TOR Browser. Silkroad.

Don't actually use it, though, just look! It's NOT legal.

To be correct the H&K's does not have a traditional upper like we think of in an AR platform. It has a receiver and a trigger group as separate assemblies, and the bolt carrier group. If you are attempting to build/repair something be cautious as not all of the parts interchange depending upon manufacture. There is a lot of "licensed" copies but the do not play well together.

On a real HK the serial number is on the top spine of the weapon.
On a clone, it can be anywhere. If you want a top quality one, be prepared to part with the better part of $3000 for one with all German parts. Real German HK's are supposedly returning to the USA, but probably won't make our ridiculous cut off next year. Look on HKpro for more info & help. Keep your eyes sharp, lots of junk out there!

I don't have the money to buy one right now. I would like to buy "the gun" now and build it at a future date. Already have a Umerex/Walther to play with but would like to have a 9mm someday and figure I better buy soon.

You can look for HK94 kits, that way all you need to save for is the rest of the gun http://www.hkparts.net/shop/pc/LSC-M...at-86p1431.htm.

Why not "roll your own" out of a flat?

Op, you should google mp5 diagram. It'll give you a good parts breakdown. I'll just say that an mp5 is not like building an ar. An ar lower and an mp5 lower are not similar.
                              S

You would need access to a machine shop to complete the mp5. You would need a press to "roll" the flat, and to press the trunion and barrel. A welder to weld the flat together, weld the cocking tube to the receiver, andto weld the weldament parts. Also, some experience is needed to press the barrel and head space it properly.
                              A

That's it in a nut shell, and may sound easier than it really is.

                              A

I may try to roll one before the end of the year. If I'm successful, I may do a couple of them so that if we do get screwed with all the pending legislation, I'll be able to take my time and build up my project guns in the future.
                              I like guns.
