There are several metal quad rail forearms that should dissipate heat better. That said, why are you shooting so much? Just slow down, save ammo, make your shots count. If you happen upon a situation where you need to dump that much ammo that fast, you have bigger problems.Comment

My un converted 7.62x39 saiga also gets pretty hot when I dump magazines threw it. The only time that happens though is when I shoot the cheap steel stuff which my local ranges dont allow anymore. There are many handguards avaliable for the unconverted saiga. My favorite is the one made by rhineland arms, but tapco makes one, so does sgm and utg. If you use an american made handguard that counts for one 922r compliance part, while an imported one will not count. The bullet guide that you want to add will trigger 922r so if you want to be in compliance you must replace the handguard are stock with american made ones and only use ak magazines that are made in the usa if you dont want to convert the rifle. The trigger will smooth out a little after more rounds are put threw it.Last edited by Chameleon Loco; 07-23-2013, 2:03 PM.Want to Buy: Ruger PC9 Magazine Buttstock PouchComment

I bought a Tapco Saiga handguard from a calgunner and the Tapco handguard had a aluminum looking heatshield under the handguard. It doesnt look like it came with the tapco forend but it works.
Perhaps you can buy some cheap M4 handguards with the heat shield, take the heat shields out and bend them to fit a tapco handguard. Im sure it will work.
The Tapco handuard has vent holes and you can see the heat shield, it looks tacky and I was about to remove it, but after this thread, Im going to keep it on.Last edited by supermario; 07-23-2013, 6:34 PM.Comment

You can get trigger parts for an unconverted saiga here. http://www.dinzagarms.com/misc_parts/fcg.html I had a stock saiga with dinzag trigger parts and it was a major improvement.Comment

ive had this sporter for about 3 weeks. everything is bone stock.
yesterday i got the chance to put around 400 rounds of Wolf through it in one sitting. by the 200th round the front end was extremely hot. we had to let it cool between mags to prevent it from burning our hands.
i was wondering if there is a quality forearm that i can replace the stock forearm with that will absorb/dissipate the heat a little better. i dont care as much about looks as long as it fits well and does its job.
also, if i replace the forearm will that trigger 922r?
im still kind of unclear about what 922r is as a whole.
if i put the "AK mag feed ramp" on my saiga, will that trigger the 922r?
does a charging handle cover count as a 922 part?
also, unrelated, is there a way to make the trigger a little better without major work?
thanks
2 .Handguard will not trigger 922r but the bullet guide will.
3. No. the charging handle cover does not count. Read this article to educate yourself about 922r, and use the work sheet to verify compliance.
4. Not really. you could polish the contact surfaces to smoothe it up some but it's still gonna suck. Saiga triggers all pretty much suck due to the linkage system used in the sporter configuration.sigpicOriginally posted by Dr. ElkyIf your a man who wears white sunglasses, your probably a douche bagOriginally posted by CSACANNONEERI've been know to cross dress and go the other way at certain events.Comment
