    My new Saiga iz-132

A couple of things. I would rather keep it as is (no conversiaon) rather than have a bullet button.

    My questions are:
    1. Can I replace the furniture without worrying about 922 if I do nothing else?
    2. Does anybody know where I can get a wooden furniture for it?

I just bought it and am excited about giving it a workout.
    thanks

I'm new to Saigas so I have been learning about them just as you are. I did find a nice 922r compliance page on Tapco's web site, which helps in understanding compliance:

So you need to do some counting. Is the furniture on your gun US or foreign, and what will be the origin of your replacement furniture? And, your 132 doesn't have a BB since it doesn't have a pistol grip, so your new furniture also cannot have one.

My understanding (not an expert) is that you can swap out parts without triggering 922r as long as you don't take it out of the sporter config. e.g., by adding a pistol grip or muzzle device or modifying to take ak mags.

Changing furniture doesn't trigger 922r (unless it involved adding a pistol grip). Changing it from a "sporting rifle" does.

If you are just swapping over to a wood montecarlo stock, you are fine without converting.

Now, personally I would do a "conversion" to use standard AK mags, you can do this, while still meeting 922r and keeping it featureless by using 2 parts of the tapco trigger, a US forend, Us Muzzle device, and US mags or piston.

Just do the conversion no big deal. Go to YouTube and you see that it ain't no big deal and easy.

He does the whole thing including parts.

That should do the trick. They have beautiful furniture.

I would like to get a saiga and put some of their furniture on it. Someday... When I'm not a student...

I believe that the butt stocks will fit either rifle or shotgun. The fore end may require a different piece of hardware, but I am not positive about that.

Why don't you want to convert it? the trigger SUCKS on the stock saiga...I'm not sure if there are any trigger kits for stock saigas or not, but man the stock one blows...

He doesn't need to count anything as long as it stays in sporting configuration.

Because some people want to leave their Saigas in the stock sporting configurations. I bought my stock Saiga for what it is and have no plans to convert it in any way. If I want another classic style AK, I'll just build another one.

A featureless ak is really a joy to shoot. If I moved out of state and no one was looking it might take me a few range trips to actually ditch the grip wrap due to being lazy and the fact it's really not that annoying. The tapco trigger you would upgrade to is really nice.
