    AR-15 Sight Options?

I just finished my first AR build (see attached) and I am wondering what are some of your preferred sighting options are. I bought a higher end A2 type handle. I also have 3-9X40 NcSTAR that I picked up at a garage sale for $5.00. I also have a Leapers red/green dot sight that I use on my telescope to sight it in. So, I have Irons, a Scope, and a Red/Green Dot to choose from. As I am new to this platform I would like to hear what some of your preferences are, specifically AR sights.

Take your ncstar and leapers optics, and put them on the ground. Then turn around and run, don't walk, in the other direction.

Rock your iron sights for a while, then look into something else, depending on what you want to do. Leopold makes a good scope, and I've heard good things about the Vortex Strikefire red dot.

Learn to use your iron sights for a bit. Hang all the crap on later.
Yes I took the pic, no I didn't go swimming!

Almost looks like my AR. Except no magpul grip and stock.

I'm stocking with irons as well until I master those.

Eh I've never been a fan of carry handles. What do you want the optic to do? Long range or CQB? A good optic is the Burris tac30 or mtac with red dot mounted on top then you get a good 4x scope and a red dot for close quarters

Learn how to use your irons, then try your optics, then try someone else's optics, throw your ncstar and leapers stuff in the trash and go back to irons(or buy something better).

The Leapers will go back on my telescope. It works perfectly for what I use it for. The NcSTAR was five bucks! And I can always put it on my daughter's .22LR. Sounds like the prevailing advice is to master the Irons first. I take it you are not a fan of A2 style sights? Any suggestions for better Irons?

I meant "or buy something better" regarding optics if you find that you prefer decent optics over irons.

If you can still make use of the ncstar and leapers, that's cool too(I wouldn't use those on a .22lr either).

Nothing wrong with a carry handle rear sight IMO. They are as accurate as any other

                    Dude rock that carry handle!

I love that look. I still want to make another build just to have a Carey handle AR.

I agree with up top. Ditch those optics rock the handle

Nothing wrong with NCstar for target shooting, it's always fun to line them up with you and see if you can get a shot to go all the way through.

All sights are accurate. Just slap on what you like and practice with those. You can always practice with your iron sights, whether you own an optic or not.

Starting to like the look of the carry handle. I would leave it the way it is and build another AR with a flat top receiver and run it with some good optics.

You already have sights. What's the problem?
