    AR's cant decide

Hey guys I own a mini 14 and have been going back and forth with selling it to get 2 or 3 lowers. I love AR's and I think they are awesome. My problem is if a ban does happen I don't want them coming into my house saying I have to fork over 2 or 3 rifles worth 900-1300 a piece. If they come for my mini 14 it wouldn't bother me as much in a monetary way. I would not be okay with any confiscation or anything like that. I just wanted to show why I have been hesitant to do it. Is this a legitimate concern?

I know I would build an AR in 5.56/.223 and one for a dedicated 22lr. If i get a third lower then I dont know what i would build it into. I plan on doing featurless for now. It would take me a year or more to build these rifles.

Please help guys and thank you,
    Walter

who said anything about confiscation? if a ban does happen, it will be for future weapons, not what you currently own.

Even if confiscation was to happen in the future, who is to say you actually finished building out the lowers. Take the uppers off and you are only out the cost of the lowers. Sell the uppers out of state for most of what you paid. I have several stripped lowers I'm not planning on building years from now.

how do they know you have lowers?
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

If your going to give them up that easily, don't waste your time acquiring them....imo

You're better of with a $400 .308 unless you plan on taking out taliban from 2000 yards away haha

Only if you decide to comply with registering per any new laws that pass requiring you do so. (I think the discussion of whether you decide to or not is a little outside the scope of the OP's original question.)

I didnt say I was going to give them up that easy. I said in speaking of loss of money that it would be easier for me to deal with the loss of my mini 14 than a 900-1400 dollar ar.

It was a simple question guys. I have concerns. I appreciate some of you answering these for me. I think I am going to take the plunge and get some lowers. Its to hard to pass up having an AR they are the ultimate all around rifle in my opinion. As far as registration goes "huh I had a boating accident" .

Correct, Sir.. No new laws to worry about as of now.

I guess I should of asked. How do they know you have a mini 14 and lowers?

I'm trying to help a local brother out..Do ya want to trade the mini 14?

OP, I have had very similar thoughts. I wasn't sure if I really even wanted an AR, but the idea of NOT being able to get one had me in the 'panic buy' mode. I would also have had to sell off a few things to fund the build, including my beloved SKS. I took a step back, cooled off, and stopped reading the forums for a while to do some thinking for myself. In the end I decided I don't really want an AR, and so I'm going to buy another SKS instead. But if an AR is what you want, there is no time like the present to get a few lowers. Best of luck!

Might not be a bad idea to get a few 80 percent .... That way if they do come to your house you can use of to throw at them... After all its not a weapon
