    Bolt action 7.62x39?

Anybody ever shoot one? Any recommendations or advice? I kinda of like having everything on the same caliber (got a Saiga and SKS) and I think it'd be neat to have a bolt action gun in the same caliber.

The rifle that comes immediately to mind is the CZ527. It is a fun, neat, handy little carbine. Pretty accurate, too, especially within the limits of the cartridge. It kind of reminded me of a bolt action version of a .30-30 lever rifle.

Ruger made a small run of stainless all weather M77 in 7.62x39. I have one. It is a fun rifle to shoot. Very mild recoil and accurate enough at 200 yards to kill ground squirrels. It will only do that with high quality US made ammo. It functions fine on the import ammo but just not very accurate.

Savage offers their Scout rifle in 7.62x39, Ruger did offer their Compact M77 recently and Zastava makes their M85 in that chambering too.

I'd think the CZ and Zastava have the true .311 bore, while I'm pretty sure the American offerings are .308.

It's a great idea, but the platforms are scarce. If I were in charge at Savage, I'd chamber it in their Axis line, and change out that triggerguard/magazine well for a unit that accepts AK magazines.
