    FAL Kit...Need Help

Ok, I have had this FAL kit for some time that I bought for 138.00 in a group buy. I got it out of the safe and recall it was a (SA) South African kit. The bore is mirror but the finish is worn off and the camo green is all but gone.

I was going over the lower, the sector and the functionality of it and I believe it is still full auto but I am not 100% sure. I pull the hammer back and lock it with the selector on "S" and it won't fire and in "R" I have to pull the trigger to make the hammer fall each time. With the selector on "A" the hammer will fall multiple times with one pull and hold of the trigger.

Do I have to replace the trigger assembly or is this really only a simi-auto?

Any help would be great...Also I am not sure about inch or metric but here are some pics of the kit.

Hmm I'm not too familiar with the FAL but I would say that is a FA trigger group.

First off how could the hammer fall repeatedly with one pull of the trigger and nothing resetting it? The machining in the receiver will make it semi or full auto.
Notice the rectangular opening above the ejector-

Also will have safety sear with embedded circular spring like on the other side of this one-

You can use the trigger grouping. The ejector on the semi receivers prevent the firing of fullauto. However, to reach that beautiful compliance parts thing, you may consider getting U.S. made ones to go toward your 7 parts count.

Get rid of it immediately. It is a FA lower. I will take it off of your hands. Send it to me for proper disposal.

Don't believe anyone if they tell you that pretty much all the FAL parts kits (not including US made ones) have FA lowers. Whether or not a FAL will shoot in FA is determined by your upper receiver. Not the lower.

I was resetting it with my hand while holding the trigger down.
What part of the receiver ejector is different to stop the FA?

The upper receiver which you need to get will not be able to fire full auto (DSA, Imbel), so I would not worry about it too much.

And I am right behind 50 freak in taking it off your hands for $1.

Do a little searching for FAL here and check out the Falfiles.

Also, you're gonna have to probably replace that muzzle device, it looks like a normal combo device and PRK considers that a destructive device - grenade launcher.

What the other posters said is correct, the part which allows your weapon to fire full auto is the safety sear. The safety sear is not included in your parts kit. AFAIK the safety sear attaches to the upper receiver. No receivers that are imported into the US or made in the US will have the cutout for the safety sear, so the sear will NOT fit into any receiver you would be able to buy in the US. In order to make any FAL full auto, someone with considerable machining skills would have to cut the slot out of the upper receiver, and I doubt anyone would do that because it is highly illegal.
