    300 AAC Blackout ammo availability

Are these harder to find nowadays? Trying to decide on my next AR to be this or another .223

I dont want to regret getting a 300 and have issues with ammo availability. Thanks for your opinions.

    it's best if you reload

300 Whisper (from SSK industries) is supposed to be interchangeable.
I strongly suggest you research it before trying it and not take my word for it.

BTW, just for ****es and giggles you should check out http://sskindustries.com/
They say they have brass in stock and who better to know if it is interchangeable ?

      BTW BTW....
      300 Whisper Brass

SSK stocks new factory Hornady brass and dies correctly made and dimensioned. Call 740-264-0176 for current prices and availability of primed and/or unprimed cases as well as factory ammo by Hornady and Cor Bon.

Beware of cases made from 223 brass. Neck wall thickness varies a great deal as does the thickness of the taper from case mouth to end of the neck. Case capacity varies a lot. It is possible with brass made for 223 to encounter a situation where the round does not chamber fully and cannot be ejected by conventional means. “T” handles have been broken attempting to eject such a case. NEVER attempt to eject a loaded round by using a cleaning rod or anything else by inserting it into the bore and attempting to drive the round out.

I've had 1000 rounds on backorder for over 7 months. I have tons of it reloaded but if you don't reload I would not buy it till ammo comes back.

I can tell you that the 300aac amd 300whisper chamber reamer dimensions as far as shoulder location, neck diameter and shoulder diameter are all the same.

Larry Vickers did a comparison with the 300blk and it was on par with an AK47.
After 100 yards the 300blk drops like a rock. When I watched the segment I realized that my Tennesee Arms AK47 shot better further out (150-300yrds)

I think you'd be better served by the 6mm loadings.

If you want a blackout, reloading is a must. The good news is that once you get setup, brass is easy to make from .223 and the .308 projectiles are as common as anything. Get into casting and it really becomes economical.
You should be into reloading by now anyway. Shame on you!

RELOAD! It used to cost me $.14 a round to produce with 147 pulled bullets and range scrape 223 brass that lots of folks just leave behind

OP, 300Blk ammo is really, really, popular; just like .22LR. It's being made, but just like the .22, it's gone as soon as a vendor receives it. Reloading is the best work around.

Or you could go to one of those soon to be orphan cartridges like 6.5 or 6.8, you see a little ammo around for them. But there's not much demand for it, which is why you can find it. If you wanted to reload those orphans, you have to buy loaded ammo and save the brass. Just new brass has been OOS for the last 8 months.
