Mounting red dot on colt sp1?

Anyone know if you can mount a red dot scope on the carry handle portion of a 70's era colt sp1?

Yep, just need a carry handle mount.

The dog leg versions are kinda neat because they allow for a cowitness with the irons

You could use a regular carry handle weaver/picatinny rail adaptor, and mount an old Aimpoint Electronic, or Aimpoint Mk III on it. You end up with a period-correct red dot. A la:

The best part is the irons are still usable.

Leatherwood had one yrs. ago that I took to a weld shop and had them run a bead on the front &back then hand fitted it to the inside of the channel. The last one I used I sanded the base to get it to sit down in the channel then used soft aluminum shims (Budwieser) to snug it in the channel.
