AR10 feeding problem

Hi,

I have a factory new complete Armalite Upper on a Aero Precision lower and Armalite factory 10 rd magazines. Has Regular A2 stock.

So, trigger group works fine, bolt stop works great. Put in loaded magazine and pull charging handle back, front on bolt does not go back enough (1/4") at least to grab the back of the cartridge to load it...Any ideas?

I'm stumped.

Mag gotta be snagging the bolt. Mag going in too far...

That's the only reason I can think of why the bolt will catch without mag but won't when mag is in.

Take out the buffer and measure it then post the results. I bet I know what the problem is.

Do you have the right buffer in. There is a difference from the ar10 and ar15 buffers.

Make sure you have the right spring for the ar10 too. Dpms and armalite are quite different

Are you dry firing or have you fired it.?What lower parts kit did you use.?Where are you located.?

Sounds like an AR-15 A2 buffer in the A2 stock.
You need a 308 rifle buffer.

That or you might have the wrong screw holding the stock onto the buffer tube. If the screw is too long it will protrude too far into the buffer tube and make contact with the buffer before it clears.

I had the same issue with the same combination of parts... it did have the wrong buffer installed.

That problem usually pops up when using an A2 screw in an A1 length stock as the two different commonly available flat head stock screws are either A1 or A2 length.
The op said it was an A2 stock so the likelyhood of a long screw being the issue is greatly reduced in this specific case.
But I have also run into the wrong screw being an issue with non-A2 stocks using an A2 length screw.
