    Comps

I have a standard A2 style bird cage on my Ar and I want to get a brake (comp) that will help recoil. Any have their 2 cents they can throw in about the different ones they have tried and what is the best one.

    Thanks!

Breaks as in broken or Muzzle BRAKE?

I know a bunch of the guys here will jump on you for this but it's muzzle BRAKE. Just giving you a heads-up.

How much are you looking to spend?

I've used a few that I've only shot a couple of times(other people's guns), couldn't tell ya what models those were. The two that I do own are the SJC titan, and the troy medieval.

The troy didn't do much with regards to a noticeable difference in recoil. It did seem to help a little with muzzle rise. Don't know why, don't really care, nor was I really interested in having a pointy brake to poke people with. Only reason I got it was because the local shop had it when I wanted to go featureless.

The SJC titan on the other hand works much better. However it is big, and due to the design it throws the blast at more of a rearward angle than the troy I mentioned above. Because of the angle, it seems more effective at reducing the recoil, but people shooting your your immediate left or right may have more to complain about. Of course that's going to be a problem with any effective brake unless all you want is something that mitigates muzzle climb.

I just installed a Surefire MB556k on my Sig and it drastically improved recoil and target reacquisition. But it's freakin' LOUD

So far I have tried the PWS FSC556, Surefire Brake and Daniel Defense Muzzle mitigator. Out of the 3, I found that the PWS controls best. The only thing about this brake is the side blast. Don't be next to it.

              Jerry Miculek brake...Cheap and works.

I run a surefire MB556. Expensive and works.

Both have significant side concussive blast.

I have a PWS FSC556 and a Battlecomp 1.0, performance is comparable on similar rifles, the Battlecomp has less percieved muzzle rise but is fairly expensive, while the PWS is definately louder.

                        I have 2 Battlecomp 1.0's and they're great. A little loud though.
