Not if the bullets are magnetic.

Keep in mind that steel core and steel jacketed are very different than steel cased. You can shoot steel cased all day anywhere if the bullet is not magnetic.

In my (admittedly not extensive) experience, people doing magnet tests don't distinguish between whether it is the case, core, or jacket that is magnetic. While it may be true that a lead bullet in a steel cartridge won't start any fires, it does not necessarily follow that a lead bullet in a steel cartridge that is attracted by a magnet will keep one out of trouble with the ranger.
