    Featureless clarification

I'd like to make my AK74 featureless but I'm confused about how.
It has a bayonet lug, does that have to be ground off?
And is the zig zag muzzle brake concidered a flash hider?
    The OAL is over 30"

Check out the links in my Sig.

The bayo lug is not an evil feature.

    Evil features are:
    Flash hider
    Pistol grip
    Forward pistol grip
    Collapsible stock
    AW flowchart links:
Pistol Flow Chart Rifle Flowchart Shotgun Flowchart

I am not a lawyer and the above is not legal adivse.

      Thank you got the link.

But in that it says that a featureless can use standard capacity, Would that count for this? Or is that more for like mini 14s or saigas? Not so much for this situation?

If you have a featureless rifle you can use any capacity magazine you own as long as you came into possession of it legally. The type of rifle does not matter.

If your muzzle device looks like this one I would say that it is not a flash hider.

You'll have to get rid of that for a featureless build. If the manufacturer claims that it is a flash hider, then it's a flash hider plain and simple.

                    Almost true.

The caveat is that it had to be owned by you prior to Jan 1, 2000.

                      Umm...NO.

A Featureless semiautomatic centerfire rifle has a detachable magazine with no round limit* and is not allowed to have any features.

Features are Pistol grip, Thumbhole / Folding / Telescoping Stock, Flash Suppressor, Forward Pistol Grip, Grenade / Flare Launcher.

The Hobbist gave you some good advice. The link in his signature should bring you up to date. https://sites.google.com/site/featur...ifleguide/home

                        Wrong.

Please go read the penal code and try again. There is no date requirement for possession in the penal code.
edit: I'll even help you out by posting a link with the text. You can search the number and look up the PC on CA's website yourself if you want http://wiki.calgunsfoundation.org/La...e_restrictions

edit again: To clarify even further, Librarian's post is correct for probably 99% of all situations involving magazines, but not all of them.

There are some exemptions to the Jan 1, 2000 date. The link mentions being a LEO and being able to keep and use the mags after you leave LE.

You could also find a magazine...

A highly unlikely, yet plausible scenario; someone could throw a high cap mag at you and run off. If you keep the mag, you didn't break the law... The guy who threw the mag did (he transferred it to you).

Right. Of course trying to play stupid word games and claiming they just magically appeared isn't going to fly either(otherwise we'd have squads of people catapulting magazines over the border from NV). My point is that you can't just simply make a blanket statement about a date as if one applies when it actually doesn't.

It's also more than just LEO that can get large capacity magazines as well.

U can make an under folder featureless. Just disable/pin the under folder mechanism.
