This post may be in the wrong place but I was trying to see if there are any build parties coming up in the bay area. I'm looking to buy an AKM parts kit with populated barrel and a blank and wanted to see if there are any parties to go to before the PRK bans stuff.

Sounds good. I assume people have the drilling templates and the tools to set rivets? I don't have those tools, so I'd need to go somewhere that does.

so you guys are saying this:

I heeded Nicoroshi's advice in preparation for my first build, and bought a few flats from AK builder. The Henderson Defense 80% I originally bought will go into a box to be used at a much later date - maybe, if I ever get around to it. Though I've never built an AK yet, I know others are absolutely right that flats save time.
Check the gunsmithing forum, or the services offered/wanted forum. That's where I've been checking for a local build party lately. Count me in for a Norcal build party too.Comment

So i guess if I'm going the flat route, I'll for sure need a build party and/or an individual who has the bending dies and can show me how to do it. I also don't have a spot welder for the rail attachment :/sigpicComment
