Carry Handle...

How's the quality of a UTG or Aim Sports type carry handle. Would like to learn how to shoot with the carry handle before I move to optics. Don't want to spend $60-$100 either on the carry handle.

Any suggestions or input?

If you are going to set it and forget it and just use at the range, should be fine.
Otherwise those things are cheap for a reason

You may want to invest in a quality BUIS. This way, when you are ready for an optic, it will fold down out of the way instead of throwing the carry handle in a box.

If you are sure the future of the gun entails optics then I agree, go with BUIS. If it includes magnified optics then you should also consider folding BUIS

The UtG carry handle is good for the price. I used one for awhile.

why not find a used colt CH for like 50bux.. im sure you can sell it for the same when you change configurations

Look at the Magpul MBUS Gen 2 folding rear sight also, more in your budget ~$50.... Just watch out for Airsoft versions, you don't want those.

Right now PrimaryArms.com has the Troy BUIS rear folding on sale for $90. those are very high quality and better than a carrying handle.

I recommend the Troy over the Magpul. For its price, the Magpul isn't bad, but I've seen enough of them destroyed in weird accidents (for instance, sling got wrapped around the rear sight, and ripped the sight off the rail when the shooter brought the gun to his shoulder), that I'd recommend getting something more durable if you're going to rely on it.

I'd avoid the carry handle if you're planning on shooting optics in the future. You'll have to remove the handle to mount optics, meaning that it's now utterly useless to you if the optic breaks. With a folding rear sight, you can leave it on the rifle and simply fold it out of the way.
