    Well paint is gonna look like paint, not much getting arround that. Alumahyde does have paint that looks like park, but one thing I forgot to consider earlier is that this is for a muzzle device, which could get hot under rapid fire, in which case alumahyde is probably not your best bet.

    Stuff for engines, headers etc etc is likely to be more heat resistant, but again will look like paint.

      If its for an fn fs2000 bullpup, mfi makes a nice extended one for California compliance.

        I shoot a few hundred round thru it and see if you like the new "Carbon, flame scorched, heat discolored" finish. If not there are a few gun finish that comes in a spray can will work well.

        On the subject of that MFI muzzle device. that call it a muzzle brake. but I see an open end and slots like an A2 birdcage. is it safe to use on a featureless?

          I hope not because extending a stock doesn't circumvent having a shorter than 16" barrel. Meeting OAL of the firearm with a MD doesn't require you to pin and weld your MD like you do with barrel OAL.
