Called Colt today, but my battery died waiting 15 min on speaker. Any suggestions on reliable alternate sources for genuine Colt uppers ???

Try gunbroker and search for "Colt upper" and see what you get, or be more specific and search for Colt 6940 upper.

Fidelis Firearms has them occasionally, call and ask because their website isn't always accurate when it comes to items in stock.

Not sure if you found one yet but I picked up a Colt 6940CA last year and recently picked up a Stag upper that I only use now. I was going to put the upper on the market but I haven't taken any pics of it yet. It will be without the BCG though.
