I am wanting a .308 Heavy barrel (I wont use the S word) rifle. The increase in price of the savage combined with its crap stock make it a non option unless a deal arises. So I was wondering how the Howa stacks up. It has a nice Houge pillar bed stock in OD a + so thats one less thing to buy and its sub $500. But my concerns are how accurate would it be in comparison to a stock TIKKA, Savage or Rem 700. Also up to what bullet weight can the 1-12 twist take?

FOR SALE: XD45, 24/47 Yugo Mauser, AK RPD AES-10bTags: None -
it's plenty accurate and the trigger can be adjusted, i had one (howa 1500/axiom combo) and albeit i only shot a couple of rounds through it before i sold it, it was sub-.75 moa out of the box which would put it right around what the others can do.CRPA Lifetime Member -

The Howa with the Knoxx stock is very reasonably priced (with a crappy scope thrown in too) and the knoxx stock REALLY works -- it cuts at least 80% of recoil, and shooting 308 from bench for sighting in can get achy...Comment
