    talk me into/out of a Uberti/Cimmaron...1873

Hello to All..........have always wanted one and am about to order one , would like to get some 1st hand info...got one ?....tell me why you like them (or not)

.....Cimmaron 1873 brush popper in 357 mag 18.5" barrel....

357 mag is a good round and shoots 38spl also , and i just like the looks of the 1/2 oct 1/2 round barrel , it's just a cool looking rifle , something to take camping and can be used for ranch use also.....what say all ?

Can't help you with the Uberti but I just acquired a Winchester 1873 in 44-40 and it is a very cool firearm. I am in the process of repairing it so I don't know how it shoots but I will. Just something about the look and feel of a lever action. I have heard plenty of good things about the Uberti, popular in cowboy shooting.

Wish I could give you first hand experience as I do want a Cimarron/Uberti lever rifle but I don't have $1,000 to spend. I think the majority of lever action owners here will be flying the Marlin flag and then followed by Henry since they're cheaper & seen at local shops. I like that Uberti tends to replicate the originals pretty darn well. I don't plan to mount any optics so top ejecting is not a problem for me. If it helps, here's a nice comparison between the three:

      Edit: ^ Nice Winchester!

Uberti is a quality operation. Have shot quite a few replicas and they are good fit and finish. I don't think you'd go wrong with one.

How would a Winchester Model 94 compare to these 2?

I'm thinking of buying one of the Uberti branded ones. Leaning toward their 357 short rifle version. If I go down that road I'll have to get their Colt Peacemaker replica chambered in the same caliber.

One of the things stopping me is that no one has them on hand. Always better to hold it and see how it fits before dropping over $1k on something. I figure these will not be in desperately short supply over the rest of the year (unlike anything semi-auto if the bills go through in Sacramento) so I might just wait and see if I can find one eventually.

I have an uberti imported by cimarron .357 lever action. It's a fun gun to shoot and has a beautiful finish. Get it, cimarron has the higher quality finish from uberti.

I'm not gonna do it. I love my Cimmaron Sheriff's Model

gg, those Uberti's are sweet. That 73 pictured above is the real deal, I'd love to ge my hands on that 73

Here's my lever guns..The Rossi's need a little TLC out of the box but once you get em dialed in they are good shooters.

The bottom one is a Henry 22lr

Please post up a picture when you get the Uberti..

This is an old post, so you've probably made your decision. I bought a used Uberti 1873 short rifle in 44-40. The fit and finish is great, even though it has been used. It was missing the lever lock (probably removed for SASS competition) and I called Uberti's customer service. They were great, sending me a replacement at no charge (and, yes, I told them it was purchased used). I have been very happy with Uberti's products ( I also have several replica revolvers) and their excellent customer service. Good luck with yours.

Also replying to an old post, but I too can speak for uberti's awesomeness. I don't have a 73, but I have a cimarron imported uberti 1858 new army revolver 45LC and it is simply beautiful and a joy to shoot. Can't imagine the rifle would be any less fun and quality.

I've had a Cimarron/Uberti 1873 SAA cavalry clone revolver for about 15 years. Very nice product but the metal seems a bit soft in places like the recoil shield. Hopefully their current product is a bit stouter. I Would like to have a Cimarron 1873 carbine some day. I had an original 1873 rifle that I sold off some time ago and still miss it.
