    Midwest Industries G2 Handguards

Has anyone used these and gave give a report on how they were to install and how solidly they stay put on the AR?

I've not put free float handguards on an AR before, but it dooesn't seem like brain surgery - I've built a dozen or so ARs and removing the current barrel nut, installing the free float type seems pretty straightforward.

I'd like to know if the handguards stay in place - no wiggle, no shifting and no relying on tension to stay put.

no wiggle. Super thin. Very nice to hold onto. One of my favorites.

Only negative is that they do heat up fast. BUT they also cool down fast too.

And I like that they give you everything you'll ever need.

      Barrel Wrench Tool.

      Sling Swivel stud.

      Qd attachment.

      Lotsa rail sections.

        Thanks.

I have a 16" 7.62X39 that I plan on attaching them to, will use the 12" length. I prefer steel clamp on gas blocks, will pretty much any low profile GB allow the tube to slip over?

I've only tried it on one gas block, a Seekins adjustable, and it fits that just fine. Tight on the bottom, but not touching. Overall it's a nice hand guard, easy to install, feels nice. I don't need a single rail on my gun but I liked how skinny it was so I'll forgive the full length top rail.

It is very thin in diameter, I have a front sight base under it right now (it was a daniel defense pinned unit that was shaved).

I honestly haven't tried any other gas blocks.

I do have a YHM lo pro that is very similar in size to the seekins adjustible that i have on another build.

Man that looks good. I've had a couple of Midwest handguards and they always rocked. Congrats

Thanks. Yours looks like the 15" rail, correct? I'm bouncing back & forth between that and the 12" version. But I've pretty well decided on getting one of them.

The panels are pretty nice for the heat. I just fired my first rounds out of this today, I am pretty damn satisfied. I bought a complete upper and have yet to disassemble, so I don't know how easy it was to install. It is on there solid though.
