    7x57 Question?

Do you need to use a "long" action to wring the max out of a 7x57 useing 140 grain bullets? Thanks...

Yes. My ruger in 257Roberts has the long action and I liked being able to seat the bullets way out there so the case space was not taken up by long bullets. Then I had it rebarreled and they did a good job but with a shorter throat so the longer action is not as much as a plus now.
The 257Roberts is a 7X57 necked down to 257 cal.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.
