    Need help from AK gurus

My dad just called me and said he's picking up an original AK-47 from a neighbor for 900$ brand new still in box with bayonet and 30 rd mag. Don't worry he lives in the free state of AZ. My question is can anyone tell me if this is a good deal and how to tell if its the real deal and not a knock off pieced together POS, I would imagine by the roll marks or stamping, or do they have a numbers matching I should look for. I'm an AR guy but own an sks also so my info on AKs is very limited. Also what needs to be done if I want to bring it into Kali ie: bullet button maglock? I did a short search on gunbroker and other sites for pricing and info but just thought it would be easier asking the AK gods here, thanks.

    We don't have enough info.

Need to know the model, manufacturer, condition etc etc

For the record, I sincerely doubt it is a true or original AK47.

And what is this 30rd clip you speak of? Never seen that for an AK.

I wouldn't pay that much for a WASR if that is what it is.

I meant Magazine , I'm waiting on pics from him. I found some Izhevsk, Tula, and other stamps on a website for AKs. I just didn't want him getting hosed on the deal. He was looking for an AR and ran across this and thought it was a good deal. It all depends on what factory it came from and if the parts match if the price is good from what I can tell, I'll try and post pics if the old man can remember how to email.

Depends what kinda AK it is.. is it a WASR, ROMY G, Saiga,..etc

I recently bought a Yugo underfolder with milled receiver for $900... I thought it was a reasonable deal. What do you guys think of that?

Op, If it's a preban Chinese with a spike bayonet then $900.00 is a screaming deal. If it's not.. well it depends on the rifle. Need pictures for sure.

A few years ago I paid $350.00 for an excellent condition milled M70 underfolder parts kit with a like new barrel and I had people saying I paid too much. They said the same thing when I bought a like new Bulgarian AK74s kit with matching bayonet for $300.00 and when I bought my Arsenal SGL-21 for $600.00 I was conned because a WASR is just as good and was only $300.00 at the time.

IMO $900.00 for a Yugo milled underfolder is a good deal depending on the quality. Heck everyone has an AR, how many have an M70?

Hes meeting the guy today to look at it. I forwarded him all the stamp markings from AK47 website so hopefully he can be sure of what it is and where it came from at least before exchanging money. Its not an underfolder that I know of. I have a hard time believing its a bnib Russian 7.62 though, we'll see. If its other than Russian I told him to see if he can negotiate a bit more. Thanks for all the input guys, post pics soon

I am not aware of any 100percent true Russian semi auto AKs.
                    sporterized models (saiga)
                    Converted spotters (arsenal et al)
                    Or custom kit builds, sure!

It is smart to negotiate any deal, but dont back out just because it isnt russian.

Ya even if I paid $100-$200 more or less than I should have for th yugo.. It's still a solid gun from what I ve read (I m no expert in AKs).. I ve been eyeing one for a while now.

What is a fair price on a saiga at the moment and prepanic??
