Mak-90 Build

So, my MAK-90 build is moving at the speed of cold molasses... It took me 3 months to get the receiver made and now that it is complete the holes don't match up to the rivet pattern for the trigger guard. Well, now I've ordered a new trigger guard to be shipped out to me. Once this project is complete, I swear I will have spent enough to have done an AR build!!!

QUESTION- What kind of finish can you put on the rifle once it is done? One person I've talked to says duracoat, any good? I really haven't skimped anywhere with this rifle and now when it comes down to the most visible area I really don't want to screw this thing up. Really, I just want it to look like it did when it was brand new. What do I do/use/whatever to get that?

Sandblast it, parkerize, and then add a spray-on finish. I personally prefer Moly Resin over Duracoat.

I would have it blued. A yugo triggerguard is what you need. I think you could find someone to weld up those euro pattern holes so you can drill out the chinese pattern triggerguard holes. I want to see this build so pm me a pic.

I found that there are a few pre poly and norinco companies but they're expensive and hard to find for sale.

It has the four holes in the receiver, so I'm just going to put a 4 hole trigger guard on it and keep my 2 hole trigger guard for my AK pistol build.

Doesn't the MAK have the long-eared selector stop? It would look funny with a regular trig guard on it in my opinion

Now I'm even more frustrated... what is a long-eared selector stop? Can someone explain to me the difference between these two types of trigger guards and what I should do in this situation?

The top two are images with my trigger guard on my old receiver, the bottom is the type of trigger guard I think I will have to use now. Please, if anyone has any ideas or tips, I would really appreciated it!!!

You can use a yugo m70 triggerguard and selector stop. To make your build a little more special since your building a custom, you can add some chinese engravings.

With the barrel options, you can try to find a underfolding bayonet front sight, those run about $200 if you can find one. Or you can buy a polytech legend barrel that use the type 1 milled ak bayonet from polytech and those run $190.

It's apparent to me now that the long ear isn't part of the triggerguard anyway, it's the stop plate that sandwiches in between, it doesn't really matter for function but I've always thought it was a unique feature of the MAKs and would try to retain the look, maybe weld up the two holes on your original plate and drill four to match your receiver while using the normal triggerguard you were planning on.

Mario said he would not send a AK/receiver into CA when I asked him but I know someone else that will engrave/ship them and did a nice job.
