.308 ejection issue

SO took my Savage axis .308 to Arizona with me this past weekend along with a couple other pieces. Just got it two or three weeks ago from a friend and this was the first chance I had to shoot it. Picked up some Winchester 7.62x51 just as cheap plinkers to sight it in. Chambered the first round, aimed, fired and when I went to pull the bolt back it would not move! It would rotate up but was stuck forward. Couldn't clear it until I got back home and tapped it out with a cleaning rod. Haven't tried to shoot again yet but filled the clip and cycled through all rounds and everything seemed fine. Any suggestions would be a great help. Thanks guys

Excess pressure signs on the brass?

No, nothing wrong with the spent casing that I could see...nothing worng ANYWHERE that I could tell. That's why I am so confused...

Can you see tooling marks on the fired case from a rough chamber?
If so, honing the chamber will help.

Otherwise, savages are known for their weak extraction.
Might be time to test out their customer service...

Ok, reviving this tread because yours truly has done it again. The Savage sat for a good while since I was unable to find time to relaly mess with it until recently. Gave it a hell of a cleaning, bought some match ammo, Took it out, chambered, fired and got stuck yet again. Had to tap the bolt back with a rubber mallet. Measured the spent casing against other samples and almost no variation. No visible marring or otherwise funky wear marks on the brass or the chamber. WTF OVER? I am crying out for help here fellow Calgunners.....any thing is better at this point than what I currently have which is a .308 caliber paper weight!!!!!
