    I hate the bullet button

So I bought a Saiga for about 1/3 of the cost of my AR. Don't get me wrong I love the AR. But the Saiga is nearly as accurate. I am able to find 7.62 more often than .223 or .556. And, gasp, I like the trigger--it is like a very heavy two stage. Granted reloading for it isn't as easy, steel cases and all. Ergos kind of suck. But no bullet button, readily available ten round mags, pretty potent caliber and I am starting to think that dollar for dollar this may be the best California compliant 'black rifle'.
Now I find myself wanting to get one to 'convert' just because. I keep looking at WASRs. I fear I may have become infected with an evil communist virus.

Yeah, I haven't touched an ak bullet button, but it must suck. In fact the Saiga has got me thinking of 'unfeaturing' my AR.

I just converted my saiga, and yes the ak maglock sucks. Big fat hairy donkey balls, oh boy does it suck. But the much upgraded trigger is totally worth it.

Where did you get it, and what did you pay, if you don't mind me asking? My brother has been trying to find one.

Nearly as accurate at what range? I have yet to see a Saiga shooting 1/2 inch groups at 100 yards. And your right, right now, I can get 30-06 cheaper than 223, in fact nearly all rifle ammo can best 223 right now for the money. I haven't shot a Saiga myself, but I'm sure there are better AR triggers out there than those on a Saiga. Enjoy your rifle though, you have ammo!

Really? I LOVE the bullet button! I think it's an awesome invention and I thank Mr. Prince for coming up with it. If it wasn't for a the bullet button, we wouldn't be able to have these awesome rifles!!!!
Now the laws making us use the bullet button... those I can do without!
            Buy my EO Tech XPS3-0!!!

For those nutjobs who like to use the word "gouge"
Note: I did not write the above article.

Granted, when I said 'nearly as accurate' that meant: Off hand with irons at the 100yd plate. Sandbags, with irons or red dots to 300 yards.
But frankly the trigger on my 6920 sucks, again dollar for dollar, compared to the lowely Saiga. I am going to upgrade the AR to either a Geissle or AR Gold but that is a whole other thread.

I'm also seeing 7.62x39 these days and for about 1/2 the price of 223. Nothing wrong with the Saiga but it's just not as refined as an AR. I bought one several years ago and converted it but just wasn't satisfied. Then I got the M&P 15 and never looked back. Ended up selling everything that wasn't an AR.

Yea I know what you mean...I have an SR gold on the way myself But my best trigger on all my rifles is my K31, and it was under $400 bucks.

Again I grant you, it is not nearly as refined as an AR. In fact my brother and I both laughed at the fact that we could probably bend up all the parts of the Siaga in our high school metal shop. And then we thought 'if shtf we could..."

                          okay, a couple more words.

7.62x51 is about the same price as 5.56/.223 is these days.

For the price of ammo (and it's being nearly equal), you may as well shoot the big nato round ...

                          Did I mention the fact that a M1A doesn't have a bullet button ???

                          Psst.

                          neither does the Mini ...

                          There you go.

Get a mini or a M1A and problem solved !!!

                          LOL

Ah hell, just go get'em all ...
That said, it is nice to have a little extra punch with the 7.62x39 vs the .223.

The Mini 30's 7.62x39 rounds are half the price of .223

The M1A and it's 7.62x51 rounds are about the same as .223

I think the gub'ment has something against AR's and their evil ways ...

                            You could.

After reaching milling setup 9 of 11 on my 0% AR15 project I thought

"If the Soviets were building AR15s not AK47s they'd have run out of money sooner"

As a craftsman AK47s offend my sensibilities. As an engineer I appreciate them and _love_ the shovel to AK47 conversion:

Just go featureless and you can run your stash of standard cap AK Mags if you have the bullet guide installed.
