    Need gun help

So, I bought an AR15, DDM4V5 LW, moving to southern California for college, and most likely will be living on campus or in an apartment complex. So I won't be able to bring it with me. Planning on selling it, but was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

I heard about people storing their guns at storage facilities, anyone have experience with that?

    -Thanks

For viewing pleasure, I guess I'll show my babe, might not be with her for much longer.

I left all my firearms at my parents when I went off to college. At least while I was in the dorms. After I rented a room, I brought up one of my pistols, and a rifle. I don't recommend storing them in a storage facility unless you can install and bolt down a gun safe. My storage unit was busted into three times. The first time they used a torch on the locks. The second time they torched the chains, locks, and locking bolts. The final time they torched a hole in the door. Lucky thing that I didn't store my guns there. If fact, they never took anything. Just ruffled through papers (looking for personal info and checks, but I didn't keep any there), and ate some of my MREs.

Really nice rifle, why not just keep it completely disassembled in a backpack in your house or in the dorm? Or maybe have a trustworthy family member take care of it til you go back. That's a really nice AR.

I was debating leaving it at my parents, but they don't own guns, so they don't have a gun safe. So really, if I decided to leave it there, it would only be in a locked case. Which doesn't really prevent it from being stolen. Now the real problem with leaving it at my parents, they're rarely home.

Thank you, I appreciate it. Problem is, I still think that it would be confiscated even if I disassembled it in the dorms. Also, coming from an Asian family, none of my family members like guns, plus most have kids, none have a safe.

So, random tid bit of a question. I understand personalizing guns somewhat drop the resell value, like when you engrave your name etc. My gun is color filled, with red and white, with an acrylic marker. Would color filling a gun drop the value?

You can keep your ar if you are living in an off campus housing.

I was asking around, and my friends said that their apartment complexes don't allow guns due to insurance problems.

Tell me about it.... Looking at the WTS threads, I'm seeing a lot of DDM4s going for 2400+ brand new, I'm debating putting mine up for 3000 for everything

I'll be going to Long Beach most likely. So in the Irvine area. I asked 2 friends about their apartments in Irvine, didn't allow guns

I still plan on asking more people of course and see what they say.

You could always keep it without the bolt carrier in your house? No way it will fire without the bolt carrier and since your parents don't own firearms I'm sure they won't know what that strange metal piece is if they find it In your drawer? It's hard to come up on DDm4s now a days I would keep it, never know it might be a good investment later. I don't think color filling in the engravings would devaluate the rifle it's just for astetics. If not ill take care of it while you're at school lol

But what if they find a mysterious metal piece, and just decide to throw it out xP

Why not just keep the yupper with you, have your parents keep the lower and stash the bolt somewhere else, maybe in your piggy bank or a cookie jar? Technicaly your yupper is not a firearm, the lower is considered a firearm.
